I've been searching around for my problem and didn't find an exact match. There are several post on if should beep or not, or how to add it.
My problem is that a few days ago the beep volume (when locking/unlocking) went considerably down, you can only hear it if you're 2 feet from the car.
Other than getting colder in the mornings, nothing changed. No maintenance, no car wash (never wash it to be honest)
Could be a short? Where is that damn buzzer located?
Thanks

Just below the drivers side windshield if I remember correctly. I eliminated mine on both the 4Runner and the 100 because I was leaving for work at 3:30 AM and didn't want to hear that noise. I believe that it is on your front driver's side quarter panel. Let me do some searching to see what I can find. I know that I made a thread about it.hi Folks

My 100 does not beep at all. I don't think factory 100 alarms have a beep function
The "beep on lock/unlock" is a Lexus "luxury feature" on the 100 series (although damn near every other Toyota of that vintage has the freaking "beep"). On my old 4th gen 4runner the "beep" (or really lack of beep) let you know when the door lock actuators were failing.

Anyway, today is beeping just fine, same volume as before. IDK, maybe I'm just crazy.
Maybe we can start a poll, does your 100 beep? Mine does and at different volumes depending its mood.

I think mine did beep when I bought it and that was the first wire I cut. Second was ripping the door chime buzzer off the instrument cluster PCB. And no, TechStream doesn't have those options for my '98.

And this is exactly what happened to all previous posts I found, people start arguing if it's there or not and sidetracks from the OP.
Well, that's what happens when ~50% of the members don't have the feature you're asking about, and you already knew this from reading the previous threads. Why would you expect any different in this thread?

In the past, mine has changed pitch/volume on a few rare mornings where it was extremely cold and wet, but it has usually returned to normal by my drive home.
Maybe we can start a poll, does your 100 beep?
Why?

@Ayune your remote must be faulty. Mine work 100 feet away, no kidding.

Yea, many of us are in the same boat as me, even with fresh batteries. I'm not sure what the differences are or a potential solution. Whenever I rent a car I'm fascinated how I can lock/unlock from Timbuktu. Thanks @jLB for the diagram.@Ayune your remote must be faulty. Mine work 100 feet away, no kidding.
